Clinical nutrition
Clinical nutrition is the study of the relationship between food and a healthy body. Food intolerances, deficiencies, dietary imbalances or nutritional excesses have been associated with many medical conditions. A naturopathic doctor is trained to understand the impact of diet on a patient’s health.
A clinical nutritionist creates an individualized diet plan for each patient. The plan may include specific dietary suggestions in order to treat a condition. It may also involve nutritional supplements (ie., vitamins, minerals, enzymes, anti-oxidants) based on a patient’s individual needs, deficiencies, conditions and concerns. Health concerns can be treated with few side effects through dietary modification and nutritional supplements.
